Tania’s series super-colourful, upside down, wrong side up, sideways works had their first soft-showing at the Afrikan Freedom Station, where they caught the attention of the elusive collector and general Jozi man-about-town, Mr. AM (we said he is elusive, reclusive, abrasive, what-isive etc, so we can’t tell you his real name – if you want to guess, then go ahead!).
Monsieur AM got his grubby paws on virtually the entire series but we were able to pry them away for this single edition of prints. And no, there is no option for a private viewing of this series – you find and sort that with AM yourself – he’s a sleazy old man – and you are on your own there.
Tania tells her stories in each of these works – about Taxi, about Westdene, Husigenoot and our favourite, Afreka . The originals are mostly watercolour and marker on paper in what you know as A4 size. The centrepiece of this series is Pasop and this magnificent work is oil, acrylic and other media on found masonite. Tania is not letting go of this original right now – and she has promised, that when she does, it will be exclusively through www.mzansi.gallery
So, if you think you may be keen, get in line now and drop us a mail – we will keep you hanging on for a while, until she is ready…
A single edition of 21 (yes, that is right, twenty-one) signed prints of this series is available, in what you know as A2 size – Tania wanted more people to enjoy her funny, angry, gritty, rabid and very cool take on the Jozi Town and the world – so your chances of bagging one are good. But don’t slouch on the couch – a few of the prints from this series have already found homes, in the Free State of all places – go figure…
21 prints, of each of the works, except for Pasop – which is limited to just seven signed prints – and comes in about 600mm x 900mm – and of course, it costs more too… but it’s worth it… the prints, not your hair.
